In the moonlight of your soul,
I feel so whole.
In the stars of your night,
I feel held so tight.
In the waves of your shore,
I want for nothing more.
In the sunlight of your sky,
I fly so high.
In the starlight of your universe,
Where galaxies collide,
I’ll be there for you.
An astrophysicist friend was showing some children a computer simulation of what happens when galaxies collide. ‘Wow!’ I thought, ‘galaxies collide!’ I had no idea. What an amazing thought…
I read about how the singer of the band Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst, had written an album over a long winter, holed up at home by a log fire while the snow piled up against the door outside.
How wonderful that sounded! On a dismal grey afternoon I thought about that, and the idea popped into my head, ‘I want to sing soothing songs on dark rainy days…’ and I rushed to pick up the guitar… Here’s my Soothing Song, a sort of mantra that repeats again and again and soothes me on rainy and sunny days alike.
Here’s a piano piece of mine, I like it for relaxing, or preparing for sleep. I heard the first few notes in my head, when I woke up from a dream the other morning. As everyone else was still asleep I went straight to play the piano and recorded this. The name, Life Drawing, is because my sister had sent me some beautiful life drawings the day before.
